Kissed and Missed by Cleo White

So, before you judge me too harshly for what I'm about to tell you, I think it's important to lead with the disclaimer that this is not like me. At all.

If somebody Googled "cautious, responsible, people-pleasing eldest daughter", a picture would probably come up of me baking twenty-four loaves of banana bread for all the neighbors in our building after my roommate flooded the bathroom.

So, as you can see, I am not the kind of person to catch feelings for my ex's tech-billionaire father after spending three days stranded at his house over Christmas.

Nor am I the type to keep in touch with him after I go home, keeping up the façade of friendship when the unspoken "if only things were different" hangs over our heads.

Now, it's Valentine's Day, and Julian Ballard is on my doorstep.

It shouldn't change anything. After all, cautious, responsible, people-pleasing girls do not fall in love with their ex-girlfriend's father.

...Oops.

What do you do, when you fly out to spend the holidays with your girlfriend and her dad, and you get a “hey girly” text by her side chick confessing to be sleeping with her on your way to his house? Exactly, you dump her. Too bad that you are now stuck with the buzzkill father for the next three days. At least, this is what she told you. Then you realize that he is not only not a buzzkill and very good looking, but that he awakes a side in you, you never thought possible. How morally decent would it be to start a relationship with the father of your ex? And while the mind says no, sometimes the heart wants what it wants…

I had the privilege to read Chilled and Thrilled, the first book about Bram and Sophie, and was instantly hooked. The banter and the spice were spot on. So, I think you can understand my excitement when I was chosen to ARC Read Honor and Julians story. While the first Book was more fast paced and filled with spice, Kissed and Missed was slower paced with longing, and we switch between the three days they spend together and now.

I like how Honor and Julian tried to do the right thing by staying away from each other, but how can you say no, when you know that the other person loves you as deeply as you do?

Even if it is a short story, I loved how Cleo was able to balance spice, suspense and this wonderful storyline together. I might also have grown fond of Grey, his head of security. Also…the details on the cover? The paper planes and Teddy Bears with the little heart in his hand? Absolutely spot on and very fitting.

For me it was a five star read, and I would recommend this book to everyone.
