Gunners Mercy by Cala Riley
Sloane
At nineteen years old, i should be attending college and living my best life. Instead, I am stressing about overdue bills and keeping a roof over my brother’s head. That’s when I meet the Saint’s Outlaw MC. They own the only shop in town willing to give a woman like me a shot at being a mechanic. They are my last hope. If only the VP wasn’t a grumpy guy who likes to make my life difficult.
He annoys me as much as he sets my soul on fire. When secrets I didn’t even know I had come to light, I have to rely on the man who has quickly become both my savior and damnation.
Gunner
Being the VP of the Saint’s Outlaws MC is second nature to me. I’ve been taking care of my best friend and President Smoke, since we were children so moving tp Pensacola to start our own chapter was nothing new. Not until I met her.
Sloane is everything a woman shouldn’t be. She’s sexy, charming, and knows her way under a hood better than any of the brothers on staff. She’s off limits though, to me and to them.
Until danger comes lurking and the only way to keep her safe is to keep her by my side. Will I survive the snarky woman with a mission or am I doomed to go down with her?
Tropes:
Enemies to Lovers
Forced Proximity
One Bed trope
Biker Gang
Age Gap
While Gunner keeps trying his worst to make Sloan quit, she sees right through him and accuses him of being an old grump. But when Sloan’s beat up car quits on her, and with no way to get home after her shifts, Gunner starts to drive her home on his bike. With time they learn to work side by side, and Gunners soft spot for Sloan starts to show.
It all goes downhill when at a party Sloan notices someone staring right at her, which sends shivers running down her spine.
I liked the character of Sloan, even with her young age, she doesn’t let a bunch of men intimidate her. She is sassy and has an answer to everything. She would to everything for her loved ones.
Gunner was the typical grumpy VP, who does not like change in his routine, even if it’s a sexy new mechanic who challenges him every time. And while he tries to keep to himself, he can’t keep not glancing at her, when she’s not looking.
I liked the story; it was well written and the banter between the two of them was spot on. The spicy scenes were enjoyable, even if some of it might be seen as too rough for my liking. Gunnery Mercy was the first book I’ve got to read by the author, and I will definitively read more by Cala Riley.
